We are a group of men and women who want to serve and support our local community* in whatever way we can and help those less fortunate than ourselves both at home and across the world. We are part of the worldwide Lions Organisation, which is one of the largest service organisations in the world.
*(Our 'local community' area very broadly extends from the M5 in the east to the River Severn in the west. Our southern boundary is broadly to the M4, while our northern boundary extends to include Falfield. But if a local need arises beyond that area we will still do our best to help.).
Our Club was set up, or Chartered, on 19th October 1987. One of the original charter members, Keith Townsend is still a member of this club.
At the moment we raise most of our funds through running our Lions Bargain Book Shop in the centre of Thornbury. We do this with the support of all our club members as well as our group of wonderful local volunteers, without whom we could not operate.

Our Club Emblem
The image on the Emblem represents a ‘Thornbury Bush’, which featured as part of the former North Avon Council's coat of arms.
We were granted permission to use it as part of our identity. |
