Thornbury Lions would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas, and thank our bookshop customers and volunteers who help run the shop. Without your support this year we would have been unable to provide much needed donations totalling approximately £30,000, benefiting many local and national charities and organisations. This has helped children and those less fortunate, prevented hunger, supported those with serious medical conditions and improved the environment. Worldwide appeals have also benefitted from your support.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the New Year when we reopen on the 3rd January.

ROAR
This year Thornbury Lions sponsored Crossways Junior school in the Lions ROAR programme, which aims to inspire children and young people to think big and dream bigger about their ideas. This is an exciting primary school competition across the British Isles helping to improve children’s confidence and self-esteem.
Crossways school pupils over the last two terms were encouraged to think about how they can contribute to the world around them and to be mindful of current worldwide issues. The schools headteacher and the Lions are incredibly proud of all the children that took part and the innovative ideas they came up with. More on our Young People page

Over the past few weeks several sporting clubs have benefited from donations from Thornbury Lions. Most recently we had the pleasure to meet Thornbury Bronco's and present a cheque for new shirts.

For many years Thornbury Lions have been supporting the Bristol Childrens Help Society. This organisation runs a residential centre, Barton Camp, which since 1887 provides holidays for disadvantaged young people. Our club was recently given a tour of Barton Camp, and during the visit our President presented a donation to help continue the good work they do.

At the beginning of 2022 Thornbury Lions were awarded Model Club status in recognition of the clubs continuing dedication to helping worldwide appeals. This includes disaster relief, humanitarian efforts, supporting those with serious medical conditions, helping youth projects, preventing hunger and improving the environment. Only a small number of clubs in the UK have received this accolade and we would like to thank our bookshop customers for their support, without which, we would have been unable to reach this achievement.
