Test results for screening held on 22 March 2025
57 men were screened of whom 55 received Green letters, which indicated their PSA results were 'normal' within the guidelines outlined below. Two men received Red letters which indicated their PSA results were abnormal and outside the guideline range below for a man of their age. While a Red letter does not necessarily imply there is anything seriously wrong recipients have been strongly advised to see their doctors to repeat their PSA and, if necessary, refer them to a specialist urologist.
Who should take the test?
Men between the ages of 40 and 80. For details please view this video.
The facts: Why test men?
- One man every hour dies in the UK from prostate cancer.
- There are 40,000 new cases in the UK every year.
- Unlike Breast cancer there is no national screening available for Prostate Cancer.
- Providing a PSA blood test to as many men between 40 and 80 as possible can result in early detection and treatment that is vastly likely to increase a man's chances of survival.
